Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year! It has been a busy month getting students settled into classes, getting our extracurricular opportunities up and running, and ensuring a smooth transition for all students new to our building. I thank our Caretaking Team for all of their efforts in making our school a safe and welcoming place to learn and work. Thank you to our Support Staff who do an incredible amount of work behind the scenes on behalf of staff and students. And, of course, thank you to our teachers whose dedication to this profession creates the conditions for student success each and every day.
A familiar message from me is encouraging our students to get involved in something – athletics, a club, the fine and performing arts – outside of their classes. The research is clear. Students who participate in extracurricular activities have increased academic success and high attendance rates. Students, think about jumping in and trying something out of your comfort zone. You never know when you might find a new interest or passion.
A new school year provides a fresh start for us all. My hope for you, Bowness students, is a year filled with learning, growing, building resilience, and finding joy. Let’s do this!
