Dear Bowness High School Community,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for an outstanding 2025-26 school year. I greatly appreciated the support of our families, staff, and students as we came together to create a warm, welcoming, and productive learning community.
To my teachers, support staff and caretakers, thank you for your hard work, professionalism, and energy. Your dedication to your work is essential to the success of our students. Please know that you are appreciated beyond words. Enjoy some much deserved down-time this summer!
A special thank you to our School Council, a group of parents who I believe could literally move mountains. The efforts you take to raise funds for the school have a direct impact on student learning in every classroom. This summer, our Theatre will receive a massive face-lift, and this could never have occurred without your determination to make it happen. Thank you to those parents on Council who are “graduating” with their Grade 12s! And to our parents of next year’s Grade 11s and 12s, please know you are always welcome as your voice is essential in the decision-making processes of the school. Bring a friend! Next year’s dates will be on our calendar, but the first meeting is on Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 pm at the school.
And most importantly, to our students. You are literally the best part of every one of my days. When I find myself feeling “off”, I know I need more “kid” time. Thank you for giving me purpose, for making me laugh, for giving me hugs, and for surprising me constantly with your poise, your growth, your creativity, your intellect, your kindness, and your grit. I learn something new daily from you. You give this school its heart and soul and I count myself lucky to be alongside you through your high school journey. Grade 12s, all the best as you move into the big wide world. Go show the world what you are all about! Grade 10s and 11s, have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing you in late August!
To all, I wish you a safe, relaxing and fun-filled summer!
Most sincerely,
Jana Macdonald, M.Ed.
Proud Principal of Bowness High School
