Podcast Examines Digital Distraction and Family Well-Being
A recent episode of Dr. Greg Wells’ podcast offers a timely conversation on digital distraction, mental health, and the growing influence of technology on family life. Relational neuroscience indicates that many families are now effectively co-parenting with the internet, often at the expense of connection, co-regulation, and well-being. The conversation offers practical strategies for restoring healthier habits, including phone-free bedrooms, daily screen-time checks, and replacing screen use with face-to-face connection. CASINO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Bowness High Parent Advisory Council has been slotted a casino for Sunday May 31 and Monday June 1 at the Aces Airport Casino. We will need to fill all of the volunteer positions in order to make the casino successful for the school. If we do not fill all of the positions the casino will be cancelled.
Please sign up on the following Sign Up Genius link - Casino Sign Up May 31 & June 1
Funds received for volunteering at a casino are substantial, the last casino brought in a profit of almost $80,000. The funds are used to enhance educational experiences for students and provide items that the school is unable to purchase due to budgetary constraints. Examples of items paid for with Casino fundraising in the past are learning resources for core subjects, lab equipment, technology and classroom upgrades, specialized equipment for CTS courses and physical education equipment.
Please read the following carefully before you sign up for a position.
No experience is necessary to volunteer for a position but please read the descriptions to select a role that is a good fit, this will ensure that the casino runs smoothly. We will have a casino appointed advisor working with us for the duration of our event so will have lots of help along the way. Volunteers can only work one position during the two day casino event. For example a volunteer who worked as a Cashier on Day One cannot come back and work as a Chip Runner on Day Two. Volunteers can work more than one shift during the event but will need to be scheduled into the same position for both days. If you would like to work both dates please sign up for the same shift on both days.
If you have any questions or need help with the sign up please email Lisa McGregor at bownesscasinochair@gmail.com. Thank you for volunteering your time!
